Understanding that our security solutions services extend beyond the borders of our customers premises, at least in terms of how physical related threats in nearby areas might affect client premises as well as workforce, we scoped for a real time threat intelligence dashboard with Dominus Tech LTD.

These real-time insights allow us to continue delivering added value, empower us to tailor bespoke security solutions packages, as well as enable us to better steer and guide our customers, providing real-time threat intelligence. Dominus Tech was tasked to create a bespoke network and geographic information-based solution. The product had to demonstrate the ability to seamlessly mine publicly available data sets in reference to emerging threats for the entire UniTrust customer base, as well as integrate UniTrust’s proprietary insights. Dominus Tech’s flexible engine allowed us to quickly scope, build and deploy an intelligence dashboard perfectly fitted to the unique characteristics of UniTrust geographically dispersed estate.

Physical Risk and Data /physical-risk-and-data/ /physical-risk-and-data/#respond Wed, 16 Feb 2022 07:50:30 +0000 /?p=792

To understand Physical Security Risk an understanding of Threats is required.

The starting point for understanding any physical security risk is to understand what threats are likely to impact on your building or business process. The threats to the business can in simple terms be considered as either perpetrated by external actors, internal actors, or collision between both.

The starting point for any project, new build or existing should be gathering an understanding of likely adversaries types the project must contend with. Key to this is looking at beyond the perimeter of the project and assessing the environment in respect of crime, socio economic demographics and other developments that impact on crime.

Design Security Ltd in 2021 began discussing the issues of being able to capture and analyse data that provides insight into what is happening around project locations. From these discussions it was clear that Dominus TECH LTD where a clear leader in this.

Chris Aldous, Director of Design Security Ltd says, ‘We have found the Dominus TECH LTD platform easy to use and the Dominus team receptive to changes that further enhance the information that Design Security Ltd can provide to clients’

Team Performance Scan /team-performance-scan/ /team-performance-scan/#respond Thu, 22 Apr 2021 21:14:03 +0000 /?p=499

Three Hundred and Sixty Five Days of Dominus Tech. A huge milestone for any new business; we’re proud to have come this far. We’ve got plenty to go but we’re just getting started.

The year has taught us many things about our services, our industry, but most importantly, ourselves. We are a ‘team of misfits’ and we truly see that as one of our greatest strengths. With such a diverse team from different nationalities, languages, educational backgrounds and work styles, when you put it together, you get Dominus Tech and we only aim to add more strength to our ever growing team.

With growth and the challenge of making sure the misfits piece together in some form of perfect modern workplace jigsaw puzzle, we were aware we needed to invest in learning how to work with one another most efficiently. Here is where the Team Performance Scan came into the picture. We connected again with Alyson McNeela from Discovery People in order to try a new tool that enables teams to enhance their potential.

What is Team Performance Scan?

It is a tried and tested tool, which enables teams to reach their full potential and deliver enhanced results. It measures the 10 key themes of team performance and highlights strengths and areas for development. More information in the link below.

After individually completing a short assessment, we met with Alyson to review our results. We gained great insight into our strengths and areas for improvement. Based on the results we have established our next steps into making our geographically distanced team even more successful. We are looking forward to retaking the assessment in a few months and see if our improvements made a difference.

‘The Team Performance Scan was a great way to assess how we think we are getting on as a team. It’s important to allow for anonymous feedback and to make sure team members have an opportunity to highlight areas we need to improve on as a business. It’s the only way we can learn to be better and we can now make conscious efforts to improve on our already decent score in the next assessment. It’s great to see such a positive reaction to the assessment but we are fully aware that we must continue to take strides to go forward or we are going backwards. That’s why we’ve taken the assessment and we are proud to invest in improving our culture.

Margin Erosion /margin-erosion/ /margin-erosion/#respond Thu, 25 Mar 2021 08:13:00 +0000 /?p=484

At Dominus Tech, we consider optimum performance to be the achievement of exactly what was set out in the commercial agreement with a client. If your company deviates from this, your company is suffering from Margin Erosion.

An example of margin erosion may be undercharging a client for the personnel hours provided. Your profits are negatively affected when anomalies and deviations are not spotted in real time. Our CEO has had the misfortune of dealing with a tribunal in a previous role that could have been easily avoided if Dominus Tech tools were at hand. Unfortunately they were not; his employers spent many hours attempting to recuperate mistaken payments, made out to an employee that was not meant to be paid. With Dominus Tech, this situation would have been avoided due to the anomaly being flagged early. This in turn, would have saved a lot of company time, especially that of highly paid executives, who have other important projects and goals to complete.

Companies that do well to avoid most of their margin erosion pain, spend many hours making sure they are not subjected to these financial losses. Dominus Tech’s mission is to remove the painstaking hours required to fine comb data and spot every performance deviation in real time. With Dominus Tech, you can reinvest the time and money saved, increasing profits and creating more opportunities for your business.

On average we save our clients 13.22% on net profits, while easing pressure on resources. For us, our mission is clear, our tools are user friendly and easy to integrate with the software your company currently runs. By operating with Dominus Tech services, your risk portfolio is managed by our risk management engine and deviations from optimum performance are pinpointed in real time, so you can act fast when alerted to both issues and opportunities.

Margin erosion is a pain for every business. The way it’s dealt with is where the tolerance for that pain is determined. With Dominus Tech, you can be sure that your business is dealing with the risk of margin erosion in the most efficient way possible.

How do We Optimise Being a Multilingual and Online-Based Team? /how-do-we-optimise-being-a-multilingual-and-online-based-team/ /how-do-we-optimise-being-a-multilingual-and-online-based-team/#respond Tue, 02 Mar 2021 13:21:41 +0000 /?p=435

Our story started in international settings, with founders from across the globe. This means we would be built on a foundation of digital communication. We knew we had to make this work; fortunately we were trying to make it work when the rest of the world was in the same predicament due to Covid-19 related restrictions.

Good communication and understanding of your colleagues is fundamental to success, especially when you are unable to work face to face! Here is where Alyson and her company DiscoveryPeople played an important role in allowing us to make sure we got the best from our globally operating team.

We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to participate in the DISC workshop. We gained insight into our preferences, behaviours and work styles as a team. Even though we are still quite small in numbers, it is extremely important for us that we build strong relationships and that each individual can flourish within our ever-growing company. The workshop enabled us to improve company-wide communication and optimise team members to their full potential. We also gained an understanding of our overall DISC culture and as a result, identified where a blend of different styles might be needed as we continue to build the team and take on new projects.

The DISC workshop helped us improve our sales pitches and tailor ourselves better to potential clients. Our global workspace has proven accessible for ideas, chats, specific communications, but most importantly, a proper team environment, even when different interactions feature different languages. Alyson, thank you for all the help and we are looking forward to collaborating with you in future to continue our personal and team development.

In August, we introduced our Minimal Viable Product (MVP). Since then, product development and business expansion has been our main focus. This focus has required us to recruit new talent, which we are pleased to introduce.

Žan Ozim

Front End Developer from Slovenia

Žan Ozim has a bachelor degree in Information and Communication Technology and is finishing a master degree in the same field. Žan would describe himself as an honest person, who appreciates good relationships and open communication. He is a team player and would like to lead his own team one day. In his free time he enjoys travel, playing chess and is a huge basketball fan. He has plenty of work experience ranging from being a waiter at his fathers restaurant to programming for different projects and companies. He is very flexible and thrives in an environment where he is a one man band, nevertheless he also enjoys the environment where there are plenty of programmers. Žan is a team player and is always willing to offer a helping hand and listen to every opinion; taking them all into consideration. He values honesty and open communication with his colleagues and seniors. His wish is to develop an application that would make him proud; a seamless application that users would be eager to use. Žan is interested in project management, he is eager to learn and lead people to becoming the best version of themselves. His determination, honesty and kindness allow him to have constructive discussions and arrive at the best solution possible. He prefers having the freedom to decide his working hours and to know beforehand what is expected of him, nevertheless he is very flexible and does not have a problem in finishing a task with a short deadline. His role in Dominus Technology is in Front End Development. His first task was to create a data entry mobile application which is coming to fruition. We are all very excited to have Žan on board.

James Newlands

Client Relationship Coordinator from London

James Newlands has a bachelor degree in Politics and International Relations and has also achieved SIA security qualifications. James would describe himself as a “zillennial” and a textbook extravert, who can talk about anything of interest at length. His previous work experience range from being a football referee, waiter and sales assistant to a range of Underwriting and Broker roles in Insurance, including Terrorism Underwriting. He is very passionate about sports, especially football. In his free time he enjoys playing football, learning French, reading, skiing, travelling and gym fitness. He is also a volunteer member of a South London based charity working with vulnerable members of society. He is business motivated and desires an opportunity to build on his experience. James is very flexible and likes a dynamic work environment that includes discussion and presentation. A startup environment suits him, as he is a team player and believes that we can achieve anything if we work together. He is always ready to go and work, even if that means he would need to wake up for a conference call at 2am, not knowing what next week/month will bring excites him. James brings his competitive side, which he first noticed in sports, to business and sales and will make sure to get the results. His role at Dominus Technology is Client Relationship Coordinator. He is responsible for identifying clientele with needs that Dominus tools can satisfy and delivering sales pitches to key decision makers.

With growth of the company comes bigger risks and bigger opportunities, however the exciting part is accepting new members to the team and learning how to work together and grow together. Each new member brings a unique footprint and that makes our product what it is.  We are looking forward to what the future holds!

Our Journey: From an Idea, to ‘The EYE’ /our-journey-from-an-idea-to-the-eye/ /our-journey-from-an-idea-to-the-eye/#respond Sun, 20 Dec 2020 13:44:10 +0000 /?p=386

Here’s a story about our foray into the wild world of the technology industry and how we ended up with our very first Minimum Viable Product (MVP).

It all started in March 2020, when the pandemic hit and the idea for a Covid-19 dashboard came to light. The idea was to show the data in an interactive and dynamic way. We wanted to show the intercorrelations between hospitals, patients, towns and regions in analysing the risk of overcrowding in hospitals during the pandemic, while overseeing the remaining public health resources, in real time. At first, we tried to use existing software, however it had not yielded the desired results. After initial testing, we found risk and performance management control could not be shown as envisaged.

In the video below you will be able to see our first presentation video we designed in the beginning of April. This was the idea for our first dashboard, which has changed significantly since then.

To incorporate more flexibility into the solution we started to design our own engine, which would offer a new dimension to risk and performance management visualisation. We wanted a product that would aggregate and interpret heterogenous data and output an intuitive visual simulation. The model would be updated in real time and would be able to provide an evolving picture of risks that empowers users to make the right decision at the right time.

At this stage we knew we needed to bring in an experienced programmer, capable of advancing our algorithm and programming requirements. We were very lucky because right off the bat, we got the man for the job. He has helped us build the heart of our product, the engine. The idea for the engine was to compare real time data against optimal values. This would help us to estimate deviation from optimal results. The reporting would work on the Traffic Light System (Red, Amber, Green), where the level of warning would go from green to red, depending on the deviation of real-time values in comparison to optimal results. The criteria in which we capture real-time data for, is interconnected in a tree, reproducing relationships between values. When we ran the values through our new engine, we were able to simulate what went wrong and most importantly, in real time, why. Having our first version of the engine running, we started building on data visualisation.

Building a new dashboard required new prowess. In recruiting a crucial new member we have used their capabilities to build a web app, envisaged to be the window to the data cruncher, for the engine. All the criteria connected in the network have their Traffic Light status propagated from bottom to top; giving users the ability to spot anomalies in the very finite depths of the system, to the highest level of overall performance and everywhere in between.

Performance is visualised in a timeline plot, allowing users to identify how the problems arise through time and we visualise the performance of the whole system in a network plot; giving users ability to investigate where the anomaly took place within the interconnected network of criteria. Furthermore, we are now able to track which criteria is over/under-performing; giving our solution an extra edge.

The above mentioned concept started on a piece of paper. It was just a drawing with a few bullet points describing basic functionalities. After building it and weeks of tests, our first functional version of Minimum Viable Product became a reality. On August 15th 2020- EYE (Everything you Endeavour) was born. Of course it was not easy, nor quick. There were a few disjointed stages and every fortnight we sat down, looked at the product and discussed improvements and adjustments.

As the product evolves, we are patiently watching it march towards its envisaged potential. At this stage, it is an amazing tool for different fields of risk management. The EYE already has a web application. Users have control on who sees what data, based on their needs and it is already a product that already delivers delight to our first client. We are ecstatic about seeing it live and in use.

There is still a long way to go, but oh boy, aren’t we excited!

Innovating with Woodwill limited /innovating-with-woodwill-limited/ /innovating-with-woodwill-limited/#respond Thu, 03 Dec 2020 20:29:02 +0000 /?p=370 Following a successful trial of Dominus EYE, Dominus Tech started partnership scoping with Woodwill Security Services.

As an established security services provider with a reputation for delivering professional and client focussed services to a wide custom base, Woodwill realised that to maintain an advantage in a competitive and often low margin industry they must adopt innovative data driven practices to maximise their effectiveness as a business and within their client facing operations.

The answer was in Dominus EYE. Woodwill were quick to realise how our fact driven data analysis platform was able to quickly and efficiently demonstrate where unnecessary financial losses were occurring and where immediate improvements could be made to optimise both the business practices and its front-line operational performances.

Why has this partnership been successful? Firstly our fundamentals are aligned in that we strive to continuously achieve Innovation, Integrity and Teamwork; Woodwills core values. Secondly, both parties know that whatever we endeavour to do must achieve the right outcomes quickly and efficiently in order to maximize effectiveness within the business and to our clients. Dominus EYE’s software ability to rapidly calculate and visualize the challenges that Woodwill faced empowered their team to act in real time to previously unidentified financial losses,  operational malpractice, and rising risks. The EYE has, as a consequence given Woodwill a competitive advantage through foresight as well as enhanced strategies for longer term sustainability and growth.

In our ambition and constant pursuit of innovation, Dominus Tech has developed and launched innovative first of a kind software DT EYE:

  • Realized financial returns by creating a dashboard that analyses, assesses and simulates performance and risk in real-time.
  • Reduced exposure to internal margin erosion through real-time visualisation of live operational transactions empowering the process owners to rectify anomalies where and when they occur.
  • Created a single platform capable of processing and collecting both API as well as manually generated data from various business functions, departments, and front-line operations.
  • We are looking forward to continuing our journey and further enhancing Woodwill Security Services business performance.
Satia Rai MSyl
Security Services Director

Our relationship with Dominus Tech and their innovative product EYE is testament to our vision of delivering tailored, innovative security services to our customers. It positions and equips our teams  to deliver timely, transparent and accurate MI, to help us make intelligent informed decisions. It has also started the digitalization process within Woodwill Security Services.

A teambuilding to remember /a-teambuilding-to-remember/ /a-teambuilding-to-remember/#respond Tue, 03 Nov 2020 16:45:10 +0000 /?p=218 It was a Wednesday afternoon in September and a group of seven people (out of eight) met together for the first time. We have been talking on Zoom for about six months and it was quite funny seeing friendly faces in person.

The team building started with coffee and drinks to start the afternoon and continued with, let’s say a friendly competition on the carting track. We started with a test run, before which we were all pretty sure that we will qualify for the fastest drivers, but only one of us was so successful for the first time. In the second round the adrenalin really kicked in and we started racing like it was the Formula 1 championship.

After we took down our sweaty ski like under helmet caps we went for some real drinks and started with icebreaker games. Our assistant/team building leader beforehand asked each one of us to tell her what is a funny/random/strange thing nobody knows about us. We found out who likes American football, wanted to build a submarine, was the class president in the 6th grade and so on. We also had a little surprise and we all got awesome matchy windstoppers (you can see how cool they are on our group photo). At that point we were quite hungry so we went for a bite. Deciding what to get took quite some time, because our discussions always kept interrupting us and we changed our minds five times, as each time we wanted to order, the restaurant didn’t have that anymore. Throughout the evening there wasn’t much quiet time, we heard a lot of crazy stories and gave each other quite different views which for sure gave us something to think about when we came home.

It was a great experience that encouraged us to already start planning for the next one.
